Tahrir Square is the central heart of Cairo, with a rich history. Originally named Ismailia Square, it was renamed "Tahrir," meaning "liberation," following the Egyptian Revolution of 1952. The square was also a key site during the 2011 Egyptian Revolution. Surrounded by major landmarks, Tahrir Square is home to the Egyptian Museum, which displays the treasures of Tutankhamun, and the headquarters of the Arab League. The Mogamma building also adds to the area's significance. Today, Tahrir Square remains a lively public space for both locals and visitors.
