About Port Louis
Port Louis needs 2 days: the central market and historic center on one, and a trip to the island's northern beaches on the other. May-December is the dry season with lower humidity. It's cheaper than the island's resort areas. It's Mauritius' capital, a unique mix of African, Indian, Chinese and European influences visible in its architecture and cuisine, the result of successive centuries of Dutch, French and British colonization on a strategic Indian Ocean island.
