About Walvis Bay
Walvis Bay needs a day: the lagoon walk with flamingos and pelicans on one, and a boat trip to see dolphins and seals on the other. October-March brings the best weather, though coastal fog is frequent. It's cheaper than nearby Swakopmund. It's Namibia's most important natural harbor, and its lagoon holds one of the largest flamingo concentrations in southern Africa, an unexpected natural contrast amid Namibia's desert landscape.
