About Luderitz
Lüderitz needs a day: the town with German Art Nouveau architecture on one, and the nearby ghost town of Kolmanskop (buried by sand dunes) on the other. October-March brings milder coastal weather. It's inexpensive, with little mass tourism development despite its appeal. Its town, with German facades nearly frozen in time since the early 20th century, and Kolmanskop, an abandoned diamond mining town being swallowed by the desert, form one of Africa's most unique colonial architecture ensembles.
