About Etosha
Etosha is Namibia's great safari: a park so dry that animals concentrate around a handful of waterholes lit up at night, letting you see lions, elephants, black rhinos and giraffes without leaving the car or the main road — unlike most African safaris, this one can be done self-drive without a guide. The dry season (May-October) is best: less natural water elsewhere in the park forces animals to gather at the waterholes. Etosha's white salt pan, visible from space, gives the park its name ('the great white place').
