About Johannesburg
Johannesburg needs 2 days: the Apartheid Museum and Soweto (the historic neighborhood of the anti-apartheid struggle) on one, and the Sandton financial district on the other. April-September is the dry season, with mild weather due to altitude (1,750m). It's cheaper than Cape Town. It's South Africa's largest city and economic engine, built on the late 19th-century gold rush, and its Apartheid Museum is considered the most complete, direct record of South African racial segregation and its end.
