About Lomé
Lomé needs 1 day: the Grand Marché, a multi-story circular building where the «Nana Benz» -textile traders who dominated the wax-print fabric trade for decades- still sell, in the morning, and Akodessawa Market, the world's largest voodoo market, with amulets and ritual objects from local Vodun practice, in the afternoon. November-March is best. It's inexpensive by international standards. It's a compact, walkable capital on the Gulf of Guinea, just a few kilometers from the Ghanaian border, and voodoo -originating in this region of West Africa- remains an active, everyday religious practice.
