About Bulawayo
Bulawayo needs a day: the Natural History Museum (with the best collection of taxidermied wildlife in southern Africa) and the colonial center are the main stops. April-October is the recommended dry season. It's inexpensive, with little tourism development despite being Zimbabwe's second city. It's the gateway to Matobo National Park, with ancient rock formations and Bushman rock art, as well as the site of Cecil Rhodes' grave, a key (and controversial) figure of British colonialism in Africa.
