About Jakarta City
Jakarta needs 2 days: the Kota Tua historic district (Dutch colonial heritage) on one, and the National Monument (Monas) and modern districts on the other. May-September is the dry season, avoiding the monsoon rains of the rest of the year. It's among Southeast Asia's cheapest capitals. It's one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world, with over 30 million people in its conurbation, and its traffic and rapid urban growth have made it a case study of Southeast Asian megacities.
