About Kandy
Kandy needs 2 days: the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Lanka's most sacred Buddhist relic) on one, and the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden on the other. December-March is the dry season in the island's interior. It's inexpensive, among South Asia's cheapest destinations. It was the last capital of the independent Sinhalese kingdom before British colonization, and its Temple of the Tooth, home to a dental relic attributed to Buddha, is Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist pilgrimage site.
