Kitzbühel

Kitzbühel needs 2 days: the medieval old town, with pastel-colored façades, on one, the Hahnenkamm slopes -home to the most famous and feared downhill race on the world skiing circuit- on the other. December-March is ski season; June-September for snow-free hiking. It's one of the priciest towns in the Austrian Alps, with a high-net-worth international clientele. The Streif, the Hahnenkamm's downhill run, is considered the toughest and most dangerous on the Alpine Ski World Cup calendar, with sections steeper than 85%.
