Kufstein

Kufstein takes 1 day to see: the Festung Kufstein, a medieval fortress on a rocky hill overlooking the town and the Inn River, houses the world's largest open-air organ, which plays daily at noon and can be heard throughout the valley. May-September is best. It's cheaper than nearby ski towns like Kitzbühel. It sits just 5 km from the German border, on the historic Inn River trade route between Bavaria and Tyrol, and its fortress changed hands between Bavaria and Austria several times throughout history before ending up permanently Tyrolean.
