A green alpine lake at 933 m, famous for mirroring the Dachstein glacier on its surface. A flat trail of about 45 minutes loops the shore of the Vorderer Gosausee, between rock walls and forest; rowing boats run in summer and a nearby cable car climbs to the Zwieselalm. Further back lie the middle and rear lakes, deep in the high mountains.
