About Durbuy
Durbuy takes just a few hours: stone streets and 17th-century houses packed onto a promontory surrounded by the Ourthe River, self-proclaimed «the world's smallest city» since it received that title in the Middle Ages despite having fewer than 500 residents in its old town. April-September is best for combining it with kayaking on the river or the nearby adventure park. It's cheap and compact. Its «city» title (not town) is a historical curiosity dating to a privilege granted in 1331, and today it's one of the most popular weekend destinations in the Belgian Ardennes.
