About Mostar
Mostar needs 2 days: the Stari Most, a 16th-century Ottoman bridge rebuilt after being destroyed in the 1990s war, on one, and the old town with its craftsmen's bazaar by the Neretva River on the other. April-June and September-October are best. It's inexpensive for Europe. Its bridge, destroyed by shelling in 1993 during the Bosnian War and rebuilt stone by stone using the original technique in 2004, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and symbol of reconciliation, with local divers still jumping from its 24-meter height into the river as a centuries-old tradition.
