About Riquewihr
Riquewihr takes just a few hours: a virtually intact 16th-century walled village, considered one of the most beautiful in France, with colorful half-timbered houses and vineyards reaching right up to the village gates. April-September is best for combining it with a wine tasting at one of its family-run cellars. It's cheap, with limited lodging options within the walls. It was never destroyed in either World War, exceptional for the region, allowing it to preserve its medieval and Renaissance look almost untouched -and it inspired the visual style of the village in Disney's «Beauty and the Beast».
