About Uzes
Uzès takes 1 day to see: the Place aux Herbes, an arcaded 14th-century square where the Saturday market is held, is the heart of the town, just a 15-minute drive from the Pont du Gard, the world's best-preserved Roman aqueduct. April-September is best. It's mid-to-high priced by French standards. It was home to France's first duchy, with the title still held by the same family since 1632, and its elegant Renaissance architecture, spared the scars of wars that affected other French towns, earned it the nickname «little Tuscany».
