About Arles
Arles needs 2 days: touring the Roman Amphitheatre, still used for events, and the Ancient Theatre, on one, and following the trail of the over 300 paintings Van Gogh made during his year in the city -the café from «Café Terrace at Night», the Van Gogh Hospital- on the other. April-June and September-October bring the mildest weather. It's mid-priced for Provence. Its Roman and Romanesque monuments are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and although Van Gogh painted famous works there, none are exhibited in the city today -they're all scattered across international museums-, something that surprises many visitors.
