Gordes

Gordes takes 1 day to see: the whole village itself, with dry-stone houses cascading down a Luberon promontory, is the landscape, complemented by a visit to Sénanque Abbey, 4 kilometers away, surrounded by lavender fields that bloom in June-July. June-July is best, coinciding with the bloom. It's expensive by French standards. It's one of the «most beautiful villages of France», and its combination of golden stone and violet lavender became one of the most reproduced images of Provence on calendars and postcards worldwide.
