About Speyer
Speyer takes 1 day to see: the cathedral, the largest surviving Romanesque church in the world and the resting place of several Holy Roman Emperors, is the main reason to visit. April-October is best. It's mid-priced by German standards. Its cathedral, begun in the 11th century, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, and its imperial crypt holds the tombs of four emperors and four German kings, the largest concentration of medieval imperial tombs in Europe.
