Ano Mera (Mykonos)

Ano Mera can be seen in a few hours: it's Mikonos' only inland village, away from the coast and beaches, with a traditional pace of life that sharply contrasts with Chora. June-September coincides with the island's general season, though heat feels stronger here without direct sea breeze. It's notably cheaper than the coast, with home-cooking taverns at local prices. Its 16th-century Panagia Tourliani Monastery is the island's religious heart and the main reason to visit, a total contrast to the party Mikonos seen on social media.
