About Locorotondo
Locorotondo takes half a day to see: the historic center, built in an almost perfect circle atop a hill -hence its name-, with white houses topped by gabled roofs called «cummerse», unique to the region, is the attraction in itself, rounded out with a tasting of its DOC white wine at one of the surrounding wineries. April-June and September-October bring the mildest weather. It's inexpensive by Italian standards. It's listed as one of «I Borghi più belli d'Italia» (Italy's most beautiful villages), and its circular layout, uncommon in Apulia's rural architecture, offers views over the trulli-dotted Itria Valley from several lookout points in town.
