About Monopoli
Monopoli takes 1 day to see: the old town, with whitewashed streets and flower-decked balconies overlooking a natural harbor ringed by low cliffs, and its small sand-and-rock coves tucked between the town walls, are the reason to visit. June-September brings ideal beach weather. It's mid-priced, quieter and less crowded than neighboring Polignano a Mare and Ostuni. Its name comes from the Greek «mono polis» («single city»), and its Castello di Carlo V, at the tip of the old town, still overlooks the harbor where fishing boats moor.
