About Valletta
Valletta needs 2 days: the fortified historic center (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) on one, and a boat trip around the Grand Harbour on the other. April-June brings mild Mediterranean weather ahead of summer heat. It's expensive for its size, reflecting its status as capital of one of Europe's most densely populated countries. It's the smallest capital in the European Union, built entirely by the Knights of the Order of St. John in the 16th century as a fortress against the Ottomans, and its entire historic center is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
