About Bergen
Bergen needs 2 days: the historic Bryggen wharf (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) on one, and a funicular ride up Mount Fløyen on the other. May-September brings the best weather, though Bergen is among Europe's rainiest cities year-round. It's expensive, among Norway's priciest cities. It's the gateway to the Norwegian fjords, and its Bryggen wharf, with colorful wooden houses dating to the Hanseatic League era, is one of the best-preserved medieval architecture ensembles in northern Europe.
