About Lagos
Lagos needs 2 days: the walled old town on one, a boat trip through the caves of Ponta da Piedade -golden cliff formations carved by the sea- on the other. May-September has the best beach weather. It's cheaper than the rest of the Algarve, with lower prices than Albufeira. It's the classic starting point for exploring the Algarve coast's most photographed caves and coves, and some of the first Portuguese expeditions of the 15th-century Age of Discovery set sail from its harbor.
