Sighisoara

Sighisoara can be seen in a day: its fortified medieval citadel, still inhabited, can be fully explored in a few hours. May-September brings the best weather for walking its cobblestone streets. It's inexpensive, among the cheapest in Transylvania. It's the only inhabited medieval citadel in Eastern Europe that retains its structure almost intact, and it's the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, the historical prince who inspired the character of Dracula.
