Maribor

Maribor needs a day: the old town by the Drava river, with the world's oldest vine still in production (over 450 years old), is the main stop. May-September brings the best weather. It's cheaper than Ljubljana or Bled, with less international tourist traffic. It's Slovenia's second city and hub of the Styria wine region, and its centuries-old vine, listed in the Guinness Book of Records, still produces grapes every year from a downtown house facade.
