Zaragoza needs 2 days: the Basílica del Pilar and the Roman-Mudéjar old town on one, and the Aljafería Palace on the other. April-June avoids the dry summer heat in the Ebro valley, which can be intense. It's one of Spain's cheapest major cities, with prices notably below Madrid or Barcelona. Its Basílica del Pilar, on the banks of the Ebro River, is one of Catholicism's most important Marian shrines and a pilgrimage site during the Fiestas del Pilar every October.
