Luarca

Luarca needs 1 day: touring the fishing harbor and the cemetery by the lighthouse, atop a cliff overlooking the Cantabrian Sea, in the same day. June-September brings the mildest weather. It's inexpensive by Asturian standards. Nicknamed the «White Village of the Green Coast» for its whitewashed houses, it's the birthplace of Nobel laureate Severo Ochoa, whose museum operates in his childhood home, and its clifftop cemetery -with sea views unusual for a graveyard- is one of the most recognizable postcards of the western Asturian coast.
