Mundaka

Mundaka needs 1 day: touring the small harbor and its Santa Catalina hermitage, and watching -or surfing- the Mundaka Wave, one of the best left-hand surf breaks in the world, in a single day. September-November brings the most consistent swell for experienced surfers. It's mid-priced, though demand for lodging rises during big-wave season. Its wave, formed by the mouth of the Oka river over a sandbank, draws professional surfers from around the world every year and is part of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve.
