Salamanca

Salamanca can be seen in 2 days: the Plaza Mayor, considered one of Spain's most beautiful, and the two connected cathedrals (old and new) anchor the visit. April-June avoids the harsh Castilian winter cold and the dry summer heat. Prices are low, among the most affordable of Spain's UNESCO-listed cities, thanks to its status as a university town. Its University, founded in 1218, is one of Europe's oldest, and spotting the hidden frog on the University's plateresque facade is a tradition that draws thousands of visitors every year.
