Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site

The Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site is the masterpiece of architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, a leading figure of Catalan Modernisme. In the early 20th century, he envisioned a hospital that would heal not only patients' bodies but also their spirits. The resulting Hospital de Sant Pau is an Art Nouveau complex featuring 16 pavilions, peaceful gardens, mosaic art, vaulted ceilings, cheerful pastel walls and polychrome tiles. The building feels less like a hospital and more like a surreal place of healing. The underground tunnels connecting the individual buildings are also open to visitors.
