About Vigo
Vigo needs 2 days: touring the Casco Vello, with its oyster and seafood bars fresh off the port, on one, and taking the ferry to the Cíes Islands, on the other. June-September brings the mildest weather and calm seas for the island trip. It's inexpensive by Galician standards. It's Galicia's most populous city and one of the world's largest fishing ports by landing volume, with a canning tradition over a century old, and every December it lights up with one of Spain's most elaborate Christmas illuminations, drawing visitors from across the country.
