About Zermatt
Zermatt needs 2 days: the car-free village, pedestrian-only since the early 20th century, on one, the Gornergrat viewpoint -reached by Europe's second-highest cogwheel railway- for a close-up of the Matterhorn (4,478 meters) on the other. December-March for skiing, June-September for hiking. It's one of Switzerland's priciest towns, with luxury hotels geared toward international tourism. The Matterhorn is one of the most photographed mountains in the world, and its pyramid silhouette inspired the Paramount Pictures logo.
