Lincoln needs 1 day: Lincoln Cathedral, which was the world's tallest building between 1311 and 1548, and Lincoln Castle, which holds one of the four surviving original copies of the 1215 Magna Carta, are the main reason to visit. April-October is best. It's inexpensive by British standards. Its cobbled street «Steep Hill», with medieval shops still standing, connects the cathedral with the city's modern shopping center.
