About Salisbury
Salisbury needs 1 day, almost entirely dedicated to Stonehenge, the world's most famous prehistoric stone circle, 15 minutes from the town center. April-September is best; the summer solstice (June 21) is the only day of the year when free access between the stones is allowed, otherwise viewed only from a marked perimeter. It's expensive, with Stonehenge's admission among the priciest for an archaeological site in the UK. Some stones, weighing over 25 tons, were transported from Wales -over 200 km away- around 5,000 years ago, and their exact purpose remains an unsolved mystery of world archaeology.
