Glasgow needs 2 days: Glasgow Cathedral, one of the few Scottish medieval cathedrals to survive the Reformation intact, on one, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery on the other. April-September is best, though Scottish weather is unpredictable any month. It's cheaper than Edinburgh. It's Scotland's largest city and historic economic and industrial engine, with a contemporary music and art scene that made it a UNESCO City of Music in 2008, a contrast to Edinburgh's more touristy, Georgian image.
