About Llanberis
Llanberis takes 1 day to see: the base station of the Snowdon Mountain Railway, running since 1896 and Great Britain's only rack railway, and the National Slate Museum by Llyn Padarn lake, are the main reason to visit. May-September is best. It's inexpensive by British standards. It's the classic base village for climbing Snowdon (on foot or by train), and its former slate quarries -once the largest in the world- are today a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021.
