About Snowdonia
Snowdonia needs 2 days: climbing Mount Snowdon, on foot or on the century-old steam train that runs nearly to the summit, on one, and Conwy Castle, a medieval fortress declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site by the coast, on the other. May-September brings the best mountain weather, though fog can cover the summit any day of the year. It's inexpensive by British standards. It's Wales's oldest national park, founded in 1951, and its Mount Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales and England at 1,085 meters, draws over 600,000 visitors a year, one of the busiest mountain ascents in the entire UK.
