About Portmeirion
Portmeirion takes half a day to see: the whole village, an Italianate architectural fantasy built between 1925 and 1975 by Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis, deliberately unlike anywhere else in Wales, is itself the attraction. April-October is best. It's mid-to-high priced, with a paid entry fee for the whole site. It was the setting of the 1960s British cult series «The Prisoner», and fans still make pilgrimages today to recognize the exact locations of each episode.
