About Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach needs 1 day: touring Daytona International Speedway, home to NASCAR's most prestigious race, the Daytona 500, and driving on its hard-packed sand beach -one of the few in the world where cars are still allowed- the same afternoon. October-April avoids the humid summer heat. It's mid-priced for Florida. Its 40 km of compact sand beach were the site of America's earliest speed car races in the early 20th century, before the speedway was built in 1959, an origin that earned it the nickname 'Birthplace of Speed'.
