Milwaukee needs 1 day: touring American Family Field, the retractable-roof stadium of the Milwaukee Brewers, and visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum, with its moving-wing Quadracci Pavilion designed by Santiago Calatrava on Lake Michigan, the same afternoon. May-September brings the mildest weather to enjoy the lake. It's inexpensive for a major US city. It's known as America's 'Beer Capital' for having hosted Miller, Pabst and Schlitz, some of the country's largest breweries during its industrial peak, and the German community that founded it is still reflected in its architecture and summer festivals.
