Queenstown

Queenstown needs 3 days, almost entirely dedicated to adventure sports: bungee jumping (where it was invented as a commercial activity), rafting or skiing depending on the season. December-February (southern hemisphere summer) brings the best weather for outdoor activities. It's expensive, among New Zealand's priciest cities due to its established adventure tourism. It's the world capital of extreme adventure sports, birthplace of commercial bungee jumping in 1988, and its mountain and alpine lake setting was the backdrop for much of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
