Tilcara needs 1 day: the Pucará de Tilcara, a reconstructed pre-Inca fortress on a hill with views over the whole valley, and the village with its crafts market, on the same visit. April-October is best. It's mid-priced within the Quebrada de Humahuaca. It's the cultural and artistic center of the Quebrada, with the highest concentration of artists and artisans in the region, and its Holy Week festival, with processions blending Catholicism and pre-existing Andean traditions, is one of the best known in northern Argentina.
