About San Rafael
San Rafael needs 2 days: its boutique wineries, less crowded than those in Mendoza city, on one, and the Atuel Canyon (rafting, adventure sports) on the other. March-May coincides with the harvest and mild weather ahead of the cold Andean winter. It's cheaper than Mendoza city, with a more rural, less touristy feel. Its edge over the provincial capital is the Atuel Canyon, nicknamed Argentina's «little Colorado», which adds adventure tourism to the wine circuit that dominates the rest of the province.
