About El Calafate
El Calafate needs 3 days, almost entirely dedicated to the Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the few glaciers in the world that is still advancing instead of retreating. October-April (southern hemisphere summer) is the only practical season, since winter cold and snow limit access. Prices are high by Argentine standards, reflecting its role as the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. Its Perito Moreno Glacier, with ice walls up to 70 meters tall, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the few glaciers accessible on foot via walkways, with no technical trekking required.
