Santa Cruz de la Sierra needs 2 days: the center and the Minor Basilica Cathedral of San Lorenzo on one, and a trip to the nearby Amboró National Park (where the Andes, the Amazon and the Chaco converge) on the other. May-October is the dry season with warmer, more humid weather than the altiplano. It's cheaper than La Paz. It's Bolivia's largest and fastest-growing city, with a tropical, lowland profile very different from the rest of the Andean country, and serves as the gateway to the Bolivian Amazon.
