About Quito
Quito needs 2 days: the colonial historic center (one of the best preserved in Latin America) on one, and the Middle of the World monument (on the equatorial line) on the other. June-September is the dry season in the Ecuadorian highlands. It's among South America's cheapest capitals for foreign tourists. Its historic center was the first site declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978, and it's one of the world's highest capitals (2,850m), with views of snow-capped volcanoes from several points in the city.
