About Urubamba
Urubamba needs 2 days as a base for exploring the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with access to Ollantaytambo, Moray and the Maras Salt Pans. April-October is the ideal dry season. It's cheaper than Cusco, with notably milder weather due to its lower altitude (2,870m), making it popular for resting before heading up to Machu Picchu. Its location in the heart of the Sacred Valley, among still-cultivated Inca terraces with snowy peaks in the background, makes it a mandatory stop on the classic southern Peru circuit.
